Registration for the 2017 World Tour closes Friday, May 5, 2017.

Costa Rica

You’ll experience “Pura Vida!” from the moment you land at the Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, Costa Rica and arrive at The Westin Golf and Spa Resort. For Costa Ricans, the Pura Vida is not just a phrase but their way of life since the mid-1950s. So for this week in the exciting land of Costa Rica, we invite the UniPro Members and Suppliers to enjoy a “Pure Life,” “Enjoy Life,” “All Good in Life” and “Take It Easy.”

All Inclusive

The five Day World Tour trip includes a luxurious king (or double/double) room, all meals at the all-inclusive Westin Resort, including a bar supplied with beverages upon your arrival and throughout the week. Your activities are included in this five day excursion and are listed for your selection on this website. A highlight of the five day event will be the all-day excursion on Wednesday to an active volcano and hot springs at the Arenal Volcano National Park and Tabacon Hot Springs.

Travel Tips

Be sure to make the most of your trip.

Passports

Please keep in mind that Costa Rica is an international destination and passports are required both to enter Costa Rica and to re-enter the US. Also, remember that all passports must be valid for six months after the trip, so the expiration date would have to be December 17th or later for it to be valid. Passport information will be required when booking your airline tickets as well. Upon entering Costa Rica, you will be required to show your passport at passport control at the airport and may be required to show it again at the hotel. A helpful hint: For each person attending from your family, make at least two copies of all of the passport information pages- 1) leave one at home with friends or family that you can reach while out of the country and 2) place the other copy somewhere safe in your luggage or in the room safe. Currently the routine time to receive a US Passport is 6 to 8 weeks. The fee for a first time passport issuance is $135 and $110 for a renewal. For additional questions, please access the U.S. Passports & International Travel website.

Currency

The currency in Costa Rica is the colones, (pronounced ka lones). However, US ($) dollars are widely accepted throughout Costa Rica. You can exchange US Dollars at the airport and there are no exchange fees. You can also exchange your dollars at the Westin upon your arrival. All major credit cards are accepted. ATMs are not as readily available as in the US and that is due mainly to the location of the hotel and our planned activities.

Arrival

Please plan to arrive at Liberia’s Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR) on Monday, June 12. The drive time to the Westin from the airport is approximately 45 minutes. You will be met at baggage claim by a UniPro representative and escorted to transportation for the trip to the Westin. Transportation to and from the Westin is provided as part of your World Tour package and is only offered on Monday, June 12 arrival day and Saturday, June 17 departure day.

Luggage tags with the World Tour logo will be provided prior to the trip. Please utilize these to make the transition from the airport to the hotel as smooth as possible.

Please Note: The Westin is sold out on Sunday, June 11 and there are no rooms available for arrival that day. It is recommended that you secure a room at a hotel near the airport.

Gratuities

All bellmen, housekeeping and other fees associated with your hotel room are covered in the package. In addition, all gratuities for all transportation, including activities, are included. Since all meals are included during your stay, the gratuities are covered as well.

Weather & Dress

Last year for the World Tour trip, you were given the chance to wear one of those shirts or blouses with the large flowers on it that you can’t wear anywhere else. Bring it along to Costa Rica this year as well. The weather in June is normally a pleasant 81 degrees and sunny. There is the potential for some rain during our visit but, for the most part, the rain comes in the week after we leave, with the rainy season starting around June 20. The average June temperature is 64 (low) to 81 (high). With or without a “Costa Rican” shirt or dress, the “official” dress is casual for all events. There will be two nights where the events will take place at outdoor venues.

Departure

Departure notices will be supplied on Thursday, June 15 in the evening in your rooms. These notices will be based on your travel information when you register on this website. Please contact the bellman to arrange for your luggage to be picked up from your room. It is a 45-minute ride to the airport, so please allow a three-hour window from your airline departure time to depart from the hotel. Transportation is provided to the airport on Saturday, June 17th.

UniPro Service Desk

A UniPro staff member will be on hand all day on arrival day, Monday, June 12 and each day from 6:30am until 10:00am and from 3:00pm until 6:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
